Happy Chinese New Year greeting to all members celebrating this occasion.

I have a number of 6306-7001, 6306-7000, 6309-7040 and 6309-7049 but only one 6105-8110.

The reason for having only one 6105 because the price is always way higher than the 6309/6306.

I wonder why is that so. If you are talking about quantity I guess the 6309 should have more in the market as they are produced for all that's fair. But for 6306 which is only for Japan the quantity available in the market should be less.

6105 I think it is not a JDM hence it should have more in the market. But why it is always more expensive than the other 2 models?

Any thoughts? Please share.

Why are people willing to pay more for 6105, which I think there is a higher demand and lower supply factor but based on a survey done by Jim W recently the tally as per below show that the numbers for 6105-8110 as compared to 6306-7001/6309-704x is quite comparable.

Meaning the demand should be comparable?

"Well, I think this thread has run its course.
So here are the final results:

6105's come out a clear winner as the favourite Seiko 150m diver.

10 x 6105-811x
5 x 6309-704x
4 x 6217-8001
4 x 6105-800x
6 x 6306-7001

1 x 7002-700x "

More input please

First and foremost imo a great looking watch :)

Not so many available unlike the 6309s but I still think the 6309 is in general under priced.

So good to wear with a lot of presence on the wrist.

It's vintage.

It hacks (well the B does).

Great looking bezel.

Such a shame that Seiko dident produce these with a similar screw down crown syatem as the 6309.

The movie link did not play any part in me wanting a 6105 and still doesent :)

It's all about supply and demand for the 6105. There are less of them around than there are 6306/9's, they fit well on the wrist, I suspect the movement is a higher quality than the 6309, and they are harder to find in good original condition.

I couldn't give a damn about the movie.

Leong- Happy Chinese New Year-the year of the Goat -Good Luck for us All !
The Seiko 6305 came out in 1965 and stopped being made in 1975.
In 1975 The Seiko 600 titanium Tuna came out. Also in 1975 Seiko 6306 & Seiko 6309 line began being made almost to the present under other names. So Seiko 6305 was not made after 1975 so it is much harder to find in good condition!
Supply and Demand -big demand and very little supply= $ +++ So that is what is.
Good Luck in the year of the Goat ! -Eli

You mean 6105 ?

I thought the first 6105-800X came out in March 1968 ? production of 6105-811X stopped 76/77/78 ?

Thanks for the update. I just repeat the Seiko data at the above page-actual manufacturing and marketing dates may be a bit more elastic- but last manufacturing date and assembly was approx between 1975-1977 for the 6305. After that it was the 6306 and 6309 time.So for a collector today, By 1977 there were No more Seiko 6305's being manufactured. I think.Maybe.Basically that is why the 6305 is so rare today in 2015.So almost 40 years with no 6305's= means that it is very rare today. That is my point.I Enjoy all the info available here to the Japan watch hobbyists or WIS'ers.
Happy Year of the Goat to All-Eli

This was not always the case. I remember back around late 90s, early 2000s you could get a great 6309 for 100- 150$,
but a 6105 would show up at 75$ or so.

A few years later, mid 2000s, 6105s began to take off like crazy.

It was great to be a part of the whole early forum, where so much information, learning, etc. were taking place.

I knew so little when I first started collecting, and so much new information was being pooled and gleaned and I started the Seiko divers heaven, etc.

I think it's got iconic status. (Whatever that means). Partly because it looks like nothing else produced up to that time. The asymmetrical case, the wrist presence, the 'why is this big watch on my little wrist still so comfortable', the feeling of indestructability. And the fact that there are all these forums talking it up.
Mine's just off for a little case refinishing at a local watchmakers in Yate, Bristol.
I'll share pics when it's done.
