My best guess is he won the lottery at some point.......or inherited a fortune :'(
I couldn't afford to insure those, let alone buy them. It would be funny if he/she drove an '86 Toyota Tercel and lived in a mobile home (nothing wrong with either, by the way). My old mechanic lived in a mobile home. Parked outside was a trailer with his cigarette boat.

Wow!!! He could buy a small country with that collection, quite impressive. He has a number of very rare pieces..... Comex Submariners, Double Reds, Single Reds, GMT with Bakelite bezel,
orange hands, and a number of vintage Daytonas, but alas, I did not see any Newmans, well, guess he is going to have to buy another case......

Nope, as far as I know he's a dealer. He supposedly bought a huge lot of ex-MOD Rolex MilSpecs that were being decommissioned (back before they were collectible) and go from there. I think all he does is eat, drink, sleep and dream Rolex watches.

He's also supposed to be extremely nice and helpful to other collectors. He's a regular over at MWR (among other forums).

He is a true WIS but you have to ask the question what does he do for a job to be able to afford something like this he must either had a lotto win or he is single and has a job that pulls in Half a million a year. at least.

Cheers
Mark.

Mark, as I mentioned before he sells watches, specifically Rolexes. He has done so for a long time. He took a chance a while back and bought a huge lot of Ex-MOD Rolex Milspecs before people were collecting them at considerable risk. He parlayed that lot, over quite a few years, into the collection you see now. He's not a rich playboy or trust fund baby. Nor is he the CEO of a multi-billion dollar company that pulls in a huge salary. He's just a guy who decided that he loves Rolexes so much that he would sell them, so he did. He's been helped in that regard by the general well being he has engendered in the watch collecting community by his vast knowledge and open willingness to share that knowledge over the years. He's basically living the WIS dream.

I don't know Mike, but I understand that when the odd unusual Rolex has appeared on the likes of Ebay (and the seller didn't know what they had), he has been known to offer helpful advice. By reputation, I understand that he's one of the good guys.

Thanks for putting those pics up - they always make me smile.

That's part of Mike Woods personal collection, he has a lot more. Older stuff 1925 to 1955

One or two subs

Including Milsubs

Sea Dwellers

Not to mention Cosmographs, GMT's, Datejusts, Explorers, Migauss etc.

He is a dealer and a nicer guy you couldn't hope to meet. This is his shop.
