My Cocktail Time:

This is a really pretty watch, that I should wear more often.

My little (actually quite sizable) Wabi-Sabi Sportsmatic has grown on me over the past days. To no small amount due to the fact that I spent hours getting its tiny jumper springs back into place after changing the broken setting lever 😅. I actually lost one but fortunately could retrieve another from a spare movement. I received it as the ugly duckling in a batch of Seiko Fives, and after some cleaning it has turned out almost a swan. It’s still missing a tooth and has a beauty spot on the dial but for the moment that’s fine with me. It’s a 1965 6619 with unpolished case and a crisp dolphin case back.

Beautiful piece. The Cocktail Time line imo has all it takes to become a modern classic (if it isn’t already). Great size, classic case and gorgeous dials.

Wearing this very tidy little-worn example of the two-tone 7A38-7020 SAA010J this morning.

6246-9001. The first Grand Seiko to have an automatic movement. The word 'Chronometer' temporarily removed from the dial to avoid Swiss conflict. 19,800 bhp, 39 Jewel, Suwa Seikosha. Launched officially in 1966, however very few made it to the market in that year. This one from January 1967.

Glorious! That case design is one of my favorites - bold, massive but very elegant with the angled lugs and brushed vs polished surfaces. Excellent condition too! I’m yet to have one find me - but I’m not in a hurry…

Good early morning to all watch dreamers.
Rotating and imaginating again today: Montana’s “Going to the Sun road” twisting through the Rocky Mountains with an elevation over 6000 feet. Mesmerizing ride with no guard rails and 1000 foot drops.

You are in good company with “ole Blue Eyes” for the greatest generation - before our time.

King Samurai. Much of why I like Seiko, dial, subtle color on bezel and hands, etc...what's not to like (magnifier aside but I even actually like it). Crazy just how much more heft to this vs the gen 1 titanium...need to add a link back in to gain some morning wrist size breathing room.
