For impulse buy Friday, the Vario 1918 Trench. Nice looking watch for the money. This is the 40mm model with a Miyota 82s5 automatic movement. I swapped out the OEM bund strap -- not a fan of those generally -- for a color-matched Nato and I like the effect. The lume is way above average and glowed for hours. In all, at day 3, I'm liking my first Vario. Nice customer service as well.

Pretty darn cool, and nice touch with the crown at 4:20. I highly doubt the servicemen in the Great War had lume that good!

They did but with radium in that generous quantity they’d been contaminated for the rest of their lifes (if they made it out of the trench, anyway)

i went for a swim in the river, mornings here have been unseasonably cold
and frosty, the water was down to 54º F which is about as chilly as the ocean
waters off maine that i swam in as a kid...here's how much elapsed time i
spent in the water...this case has been carved and blasted, i really like it this
way...is that 12 minutes 27 seconds? the minute minute dial is ridiculously
small....and the hour register at 3 is ridiculously redundant, it amounts to
an am/pm indicator.
