Yes, you are right! They would glow for exactly ......... 12.5 years. Thats the rated lifespan of the tubes. You are better off with lumes... If moisture don`t get to it, the lume last at least twice as long...

Its possible and has been done.

2428 eta hands and Seiko hands are very close in size and can fit with some adjusting or broaching.
the hands for both are nominally 1.50 and .90 so they can fit, sometimes they dont and they won't always fit perfectly.

the seconds hand have are not as close in size.

You'd need a domed crystal and probably need to bend the seconds hand to clear the tubes.

Both Jack at Iww and Randall Benson have done this mod.

A dumb thought perhaps but I'm wondering if it was possible to install a set of hands from a Luminox into that of a 6309-7040?
The Tritium tubes would be really cool and it would certainly glow!
I have this picture saved and running in my screensaver, so I know this mod is possible. It looks to me as if the entire movement from a Marathon has been transplanted into a 6309 case. Like KMC mentioned, you may need a domed crystal for clearance.
