Along with collecting “mens” vintage Seikos, over the years I have grabbed a number of womens high-beat models and dive/high-beat models. I really can’t wear them but still appreciate them. Is this normal behavior? It seems a bit odd that I purchase unusable Seikos (at least for me) and at times I think I should get rid of them and collect like a normal person. Any of you out there doing the same?

I have 3 daughters so a valid excuse to buy lady's size watches. My wife never wears a watch but it doesn't stop me from searching for a birth year and month watch for her.

The 2205 divers used to sell for lunch money. Nobody wanted them. I have 4 and I don't think I paid more than $50. 3 of the 4 were under $25. Not the case today, they are selling for $500-900. I have a few various models via Yahoo Japan that were still new with tags and stickers attached. Most were in the $20 range and I was the only bidder. The teal 7548 has always caught my eye, the price keeps me away. I found a teal 2625 for lunch money. Same 4Dxxxx serial number as the other models. The 1944- and 1964- are 36,000 beat hand wind watches that are easy for a non regular watch wearer to grab when needed.

I gave my daughter a nice 2206 last year. I saw it on her side table last week. She said she let it stop when the whole family had COVID last year. She plans to start it up again on the 1 year anniversary to celebrate.

The 2205 diver is about the same size as the smaller Man's Datajust. Men don't have a problem wearing that watch.

Comparing it to a DJ36 is apples to tomatoes, while many men still wear 34-36mm dress watches, DJ, KS, PP ect. with a diver format case and bezel the watch ends up looking way to small. I think 38mm is too small for a diver but the 013 is very popular but it also has a 20mm lug width. After handling a new SPB313 I decided it was too small for my tastes even though it is 41mm, it isn't just the number. My two cents anyway adding that my Sumo is my all time fav diver :) These ladies divers are lovely little objects just the same, just will never wear one.

Not sure they get any better than the Seiko 2205-0760 and 0769. Here is my daughter’s 0769 I gave her in 2021 upon graduating from college. These things are built like tanks.

Agreed, the proportions are beautiful. One thing I have done with some of the smaller watches I’ve purchased is put them in a bund strap and the size is much less important. I have a

That is beautiful, the proportions are just right. I have a 26mm 2205--0640 (photo below, though not my actual watch as I’m in Mexico for the week). I love it and wish I had a machine to double the size…

I do buy ladies watches too, especially vintage ones.
My wife wears them but she knows the rule: all the watches are mine in the household, she only gets to borrow them!
However i'll get the very good idea from you guys to buy some for my daughter as well! At the end of the day she's 5 already...

There are still bargains to be had among the 2625s on YJ if you're flexible on condition. There aren't too many reasons why a guy would be grateful for having a 6⅓" wrist, but mine just about lets me get away with wearing my 2625-0170. It's just a shame I didn't start wearing it when my eyes were young enough to read the tiny date …

I also buy ladies watches! I think that they are under valued in terms of price and appreciation, as they can be quite complex, small pieces of technology. On the dive front, I wear a 4025-015V which is quite small and i have seen describes as for a youth!

These are, to me, very attractive, and distinctive watches. I also have a 1120-0100, hand wound. white gold plated, £1.00. Not even lunch money!

2559-3020, a/m bracelet. Hand wound, hi beat, £16.00

I was going to say that exact same thing. A tiny diver would just look silly on a man’s wrist.

I've been know to collect small + Medium divers. These are a few of the runners. Several others need service but I lack spare time to tend to them.

How about the Seiko 4205-0152 ? I have one waiting in line for service and have always considered it a good size. I have always felt the 6309 Turtle a little too big and heavy for my taste. Bought this during my diver acquisition phase a few years back. Paid less than $50 for it. Case is un-polished but someone did a terrible re-lume job on the dial. I picked up another dial and hands but it's always been a low priority to have serviced. It actually runs pretty well but the crown and stem seem to be messed up as the crown doesn't push in enough to engage the screw down. Does anyone have experience with these smaller divers?

From the little experience I've got, I do recommend good eyes, or high magnification, and patience if you're planning on servicing one of these petite beauties.

is there a "normal" watch collector out there? that's as far as my opinion on other people is going to go.
to each their own, and wear any watch that you want to wear. i gave my smaller pieces to my last girlfriend,
and i regret not keeping them, there were some real beauties. here's my favorite, a small watch that looked
perfect on my wrist, the ominously numbered 6660-7030....
