Got it!!

Unfortunately the GL831 is broken, It is an April 1980 with good crown threads and no exterior evidence of damage. Seller bought new in 1980. Beer now, pictures later.

Pics

Here are a few quick n dirty shots, included is a shot of where the band failed (I have had the worst luck with the GL831 bands even new ones wouldn't last more than 2 years without breaking) Watch kept good time overnight and day/date changed over. On downside the stem spring or seat will need to be replaced and a new gasket put in rotating bezel. The seller said it was never serviced so a CLA is in the future.
