The cheapest Omega is probably a Speedmaster Reduced automatic .. actually a very nice high quality watch, and can be had for less than $1000 most of the time.

There are various lesser known names with the same ETA2892/Dubois Depraz modular chronograph movement, Daniel Jean Richard comes to mind.

For $500+ I wouldn't really go for a quartz chronograph, it just doesn't tick the right boxes for me, Seiko no longer do any auto chronographs in the 'affordable' category ..

There is one exception .. the Citizen 2100 calibre, which although it's an eco drive quartz has a movement that feels very much like a mechanical in operation. Brand new they're right on the target money-wise, 2nd hand quite a bit cheaper :)
