I'm planning to add a Seiko 6306 to my collection. May i ask the experts here what I should look for or chase after? A Seiko 6306-70001 or 6306-7000? Response and reasons why will be appreciated. :c017:

Any. The -7000 might be the more "rare" version, but I'd be happy with any one, as long as the condition is fine.

Get one that looks and works great. If you want the extra collector's cred, get a minty -7000 ;)

What Jim said. Condition, condition. I personally would appreciate the rarity of a -7000, but I wouldn't pay a premium price over a -7001.

Wow thank you for the response. By the way, for reference purposes, what is the difference between the 6306-7000 against 6306-7001. I am aware that the 7000 came out first in 1976 and probably had a production span of only 1 year (and probably the reason why its considered rare).

The main characteristic of the 7000 is the large cut out at the crown. May I ask beside the cut out, are there any other characteristic that may differentiate it from the 7001? I assume that they have the same movement, dial and hands. Any other information will surely add to the knowledge base.
Thank you

I'm not aware of any difference between the 6306-7000 and the 6306-7001. Perhaps there is a slight difference in the case, but nothing I know of. I wonder if anyone on here knows any different?

I have a few '7001's but not a '7000 to compare.

Yes I have seen that about the crown cutout... I will look out for a good 7000. But I'm not that bothered tbh.

Case, crown, click ball location, possibly dial printing and the case back.
