I was browsing through the branding dictionary and noticed the entry for Sea Lion is blank.

I'm curious what kind of product line Sea Lion was. Since there is a Sea Lion DX in the Trading Post right now, and the branding dictionary says DX was attached to "inexpensive automatics", I assume a Sea Lion isn't a prestige item , but the designs are interesting.

This a 1967 Sea Lion M88 Weekdater that I just picked up. It will be a while before it gets its turn on the bench but I love Weekdaters so I could not resist purchasing it. This one is a bit unusual because of the case design. It uses the old style band pins. The pin holes go all the way though the lugs like all watch cases use to be and it uses pins made of brass. I got lucky because this watch had the original brass pins still in place when I bought it even though it had no band.

and just so your not confused a 6206 26 jewel movement is not an inexpensive movement.

The Weekdater is really handsome in a midcentury modern sort of way. That's what first caught my eye about this.

I love weekdaters myself but not all weekdaters are Sea Lion's.

Anyone in this forum could advise me of reputed watch repairer that would know how to repair a Seiko Sea Lion M88? I believe the main spring is gone, and I have no idea if spares are still available for this kind of watch, a self winding mechanical, week-dater. Mine was bought new in Singapore, at the old Changi Village in 1968. It has given me sterling service every day since it was bought as I wore it daily, but now 50-years old. The spring was replaced once before @ year 2000. But the gentleman who did it, an elderly craftsman, has retired and his workshop is no more. Any advice is appreciated. I live in the UK, county Hampshire.

I think any competent watchmaker could do the job. It’s not necessarily a vintage specialist job.

I’ve got one too. Nice watches. It came from Singapore in 1968 as well, and there is a bit of a story attached to it.
