Had a big problem today with my Military watch assembly.
So I will have to delay it for now, because I had two Balance
wheel assemblies and both went ........ " Up In Smoke ".
Both Hair Springs were working and they both broke of the holder's,
( amazing they were a 1/2 hour apart ) , when they gave up,
probably because of being to old. So will have to source .....
( Two balance Wheel Assemblies ), for the Two movements.

Well just ......... (1), One ...... for now would sure help. s
So if anyone has a spare or Two to part with ( ... D-407, 7jewel, Hand
wind Seiko for (WESTCLOX ) movement ), or ( Similar ) parts I could get
it from you if its for sale.

I was told some others are the same but had the list and misplaced it.
Aloha and thanks for your time.

It's not a Seiko D407, it's a Westclox D407. Here's the interchange list- but Borel lists the balance as stock - maybe cheaper in the long run to buy new!

I just need one right now

The movements are hard to find right now, but looking for them.
I just need one Balance Wheel for now, but if I can get two I be alright also.
Trying to find them so I get these going because I have the dials and only one hand yet ,
just need the Seconds and Minute hands.
And later a second crystal to the other one and some hands.
Its coming out quite good so far.

Looked at it

Yes Sir, and it was very helpful and appreciated much.

Looked at it, but here is the problem. I never ordered anything
outside the U.S., so I don't know about getting all kinds of things
for watchs really yet. I just have been buying watchs and that's about
it. The ones I needed parts for I found here and on the Bay.
I wanted to find my movement for my other big diver I have
but I think I only can go to Citizens , Torrance , U.S. Like the
first one I have. The movement I need is a ..............
" Citizens Echo Drive B741, Chrono. ", For my other Carbon watch.
If I knew some one in the UK then maybe they could look for
it for me. I am not a ordering guy well at least for watchs so far.
I tried emails but they don't reply back for some reason.
The Military one a second hand movement would be just fine,
or even just the Balance wheel.
So far everything I needed was on this Forum to get.

Borel is based in Kansas City, Missouri http://julesborel.com/ You can call them to check stock. Maybe someone here with an account will help you, if you need it.
They are unlikely to answer emails for low dollar parts enquiries - they don't have a lot of staff .
Citizen will not sell you a movement only - these were "back to factory" repair only.
They might repair your watch and in doing so, change the movement though.
Have you thought about using a similar movement to the D407, then you can get the watch working until you find the movement parts you need, and swap them over?
Something like a 66b looks very similar indeed. http://www.network54.com/Forum/78440/thread/1255994075/All+right%3B+let%27s+see+some+handwinders+%28no+autos,+please%29

If you cross reference the balance staff from the D407, it's the same as 66b and so is the escape wheel, pallet fork etc. I'd be surprised if the 66b balance wheel and cock wouldn't swap straight over. The difference between the two looks to be the design of the hairspring stud.

Yes, thank you Sir I tought of some others also

I found couple old 6309's here I had from past Zip Lock adventures.

This one will accept the 6309 ones but the top hole is a little off
in the drilling. I tried to take one Hair spring from a old 6309 Balance, and it did fit,
but have to align the hole for that. So I will just look for one
and should be able to find it soon, well hopefully.
But found out that the 6309 is very close to it. The balance wheel
hair spring is the same, except they have Two cross bars instead of Four
like the 6309's. Same set up but the bars are different, but they fit.

Thank you very much for all your assistance in this one Sir it is very much
appreciated and I really mean that too.

I hope it works, but before you sacrifice the 6309 hairspring, please remember that the D407 is 18,000 BPH and the 6309 is 21,600BPH so the hairsprings are very likely to be different in strength and tune, even though they look similar !!!

Thanks, and I reconsidered that also

Thanks for the point and before I did that I said ........
" What if they are different all together, so I did not do anything
and it be just fine.
I will stick to the original, and that's it.......... no compromising
on this one.
Aloha for a good point given Sir, and Thanks
