Does anyone know a competent watchmaker who would be able to service JDM Seikos in Northern Virginia?

I would try Jack at IWW in Cary NC. Good place to start. Otherwise, you can contact Seiya in Japan and he will take care of it.
I'm looking for someone local. Surely there must be a competent watchmaker still left in Northern Virginia (Fairfax, Arlington, Alexandria, Loudoun)?

The truth is, there are allot of watchmakers that wont even touch a vintage Seiko Chrono, let alone a newer JDM mechanical.

What particular watch is it? This is going to make the biggest difference in who may be able to help you outside of Japan.

A MIJ 4s15 or 6r15 is a whole different animal compared to a 8l35 or 9 series GS.

I am looking for someone who will work on watches based on the 6R15 movement.

Hi ILD

You did`nt mention which case it is, this may make a difference in how much others want to work on it.

As I point out here:

The 6r15 is 90% the same as the 7s26b caliber, meaning if you can find anyone comfortable working on the 7s26, they should also be able to handle the 6r15 with ease, depending on which case it is.

I know thats does`nt answer the question directly, but I hope it can aleave some of your concerns about it being a JDM, its basics are not that different from the 7s26 and many of the competent watchmakers that may be in your area could understand it (Although you may need to explain that is a modification of the 20 YO 7s26). Have you tried Ken Setser, he could handle it. :?)

Best regards,
Randall

Who is Ken Setser and is he in Northern Virginia?
I am surprised. NO ONE has a recommendation for a watchmaker in Northern Virginia?
Using google I found that there are 3 active guilds of the HOROLOGICAL ASSOCIATION OF VIRGINIA with the largest in Fairfax. Why not contact these folks as if there is anyone local willing to work on your Seiko, I'm sure they will know.

On the left side at the bottom there are also links for AWCI and NAWCC which may also help you find someone local.
I really appreciate the information, but I was also hoping for recommendation based on personal experience from forumites.

No fellow NoVA resident on this forum, I gather? ???
