Vintage Ricoh Arrival

This is one of those pleasant surprises from f*bay. You know, those impulse buys that you’re not quite sure what you’ll be getting and if it even ticks? I laid out a whopping $17.49 including shipping for this nifty early ‘70s chunky Ricoh automatic. All stainless steel case, stunning blue half gradient dial, manual winds and keeps pretty decent time. I have tweaked the regulation and have it to about one minute per day.

The dial is absolutely beautiful and really makes this watch pop. It came on a brand new plastic/vinyl dark blue croc look band (!) that will remain on the watch at least for awhile.

Enjoy the pics and thanks for looking.

Cheers,

-Marc

Any chance it has an Orient movement inside? I noticed the day wheel looks similar to others I've seen from Orient as well as the pusher at 2 oclock.
The movement is signed Ricoh, but that doesn't mean too much. I always thought that Ricoh might have shared something with Orient, as their watches seem to have elements in common.

I got two of those Ricohs:

But the actual funny thing is, that I opened the back of this likely Chinese watch I bought 5 years ago:

...and to my surprise I found this inside:

Cool looking! No rotating anchor @ 12:00? I thought that was a Ricoh trademark.

Cheers!

No way! That way cool! I have a couple of Ricohs and the Spacer II and octagon cased that you have are really special!

I like the bling factor in the octagon cased Ricoh.

Latest Ricoh I got is this number . .

You're right, the blue on the dial is nice. Enjoy it, great buy!
