Just to make two remarks:
1. Currently (perhaps we can figure out an breakpoint - guess it must be in the lateer 80s or in the first part of the 90s) Citizen uses the same system as Seiko (2nd digit showing the month, not second and third anymore)
2. People should not be surprised finding vintage Citizens without serial number (some lower positioned models did not have them)

Thanks for those points Axel - much appreciated. I only know models up to the mid-1970's so wasn't aware of the later developments. I will revise the guidance to make things clearer, and add the point that some models may lack a serial number.
