I recently managed to get this AGS FieldMaster from Japan.

I do not see these regularly so when this turned up for sale at a good price I grabbed it. The model is SBBW035 and it had an original list price of 38,000 yen.

The condition is quite good and all is running OK, but it will only hold a reserve of 5 seconds so I will need to change out the capacitor module.

The dial has a few different levels to it and the applied indices and Seiko logo are nice, despite the different textures on the dial it is still very clean and easy to read.

The watch came without a strap so I have put it on a black leather that seems to suit it. Originally this model came on a bluish shark textured strap but I am enjoying the darker color for the moment.

This example is from April 1995 at the start of production, the model continued for a few years and ended sometime in 1998. It is a one piece titanium case so I will need to go in via the front when I replace the capacitor.

With the Ti case it is very light on the wrist and comfortable to wear. I really like the watch and it make a nice addition to my slowly growing collection of "Masters".

The blue version is less common and looks a bit less 90-s than the gold version so it is a good purchase. Used AGS watches are often very cheap in Japan and, if you can change the capacitor, a really good pruchase as the quality is excellent. My Fieldmaster is one of my most comfortable watches with a low profile and a titanium case.

Thanks for the comments.

Martin I actually quite like the gold version, from your photo it seems like yours has the black dial?

I would expect to see more of the gold versions around as there was both a black dial (SBBW031) which was the only model available on both a bracelet and also a gold version with a dark green dial (SBBW037) which came on a dark green version of the shark skin textured strap.

Totally agree and I have no complaints about the quality of this piece. I paid around $80 for this example.
