Delving into the depths of WISology, theme watches have always intrigued me. And by definition can represent a wide range of examples from character watches, movie celebrities (e.g. James Bond, Jaws), cars, visual imitations, functional interpretations, etc. -- limited only by WIS imagination. Although considered a little frivolous by some, they certainly add an amusing and entertaining dimension for many. When I see one in the wild, it always leads to a fascinating conversation with a stranger who appreciates something unique in their lives.

What is your favorite and why?

As a camera enthusiast since being a kid, a personal favorite is my Orient Star Retro Camera. For those of us who go back to range finders, single lens reflex (SLR), manual shutter speed and f-stop settings - this Orient Star captures the essence of those mechanically engineered works of art. Definitely a timepiece of "times gone by!"

Thanks....Lexcalibre

And a continued Happy Birthday week to you.

Yes, divers the single largest theme on this forum, but I am referring more to the niche unique theme watches.

As far as divers theme - really admire your new Orient OS 300! And Orients have creatively contributed to "theme" watches with their airplane, motorcycle, etc. themed watches.

Though I don't know if this would apply as a "theme", but if it is indeed a theme, for me I think my favorite would be divers.

I like the Orient Retrofuture models for their construction and attention to details.

However, for a themed watch with more subtle influences, I like the new Seiko Cocktail line, with the SARB065 being my favorite. It is called "Cool" and its ice blue dial and blued second hand capture this with some nice detailing on the dial. The 2 other models are called Dry and Sweet. Yeoman has a nice blog about these found here and the pictures are taken from his site.

I like this picture as the bend in the crystal makes the date window look like a melting ice cube and the distortion of the dial texture looks like gin mixing with the tonic.

If I were to say what theme is best implemented in a watch, I don't think anything beats the OS Retro-Future Road Bike:

For those who know bicycles, specially vintage road bikes, there are many details that came directly out of an old road bike. And the best of all is that it's done in such a way that it looks good and is not tacky. Ever since I got my red Strada road bike I'm thinking about this watch...

Pete, nice military examples!

My treasured Pocket watch from my collection of military watches - a US Army Air Force WWII Navigator's pocketwatch:
