After numerous searches on Craigslist, I ran across this beauty. It is a Seiko 8123-7140. Luckily it started right up after meeting the seller at a watch shop to replace the battery before purchasing.

The pictures were a little fuzzy on CL. I was pleasantly surprised in person. I think it deserves a name. The Banana? Is it already taken?

Banana? Don't think so. It might evoke memories of this infamous image. ;D

(Sorry, mods. Couldn't resist that opening. Delete if desired.)

Okay, new name. "The Ugly Duckling" is a better fit. With a little more love and attention, it will earn the wrist time it deserves. Kind of like my Oregon Ducks. Not everyone loves them, but I sure do.

So how can I find a crystal? I have done some searching but have come up empty.

You may have to go with a generic crystal :(

No no - "The Banana" is a GREAT name!

And much like when a scientist who gets naming rights when he or she finds a new species, I fully endorse your choice, and your right.

Believe me, if and when I find one, I'll call it "The Banana" with pride.
