I have found myself having to order parts lately and keep coming up against an issue of identifying where a part goes. In particular, I have found references that say the train side of the movement is the "upper" and the dial side is the "lower" and then I have found references that have stated just the opposite.

Example, ordering Upper and Lower jewels/settings for a 2892-2. Problem is slight differences in the part numbers making me believe that they are actually different parts.

When you have spares, it is eay. Just grab what you need from the same place. But ordering parts? Don't want to risk ordering the wrong parts because of ignorance on my part.

So, what is the understanding that most have. Is the dial side the upper or lower? Top or bottom?
