Majority Rules. Sorry Cindy. Most the input we got wanted the old format where everything was listed together. On the plus side, by combining everything, traffic to the SCTP has increase and our Elitedealseeker listing has jumped dramatically.

What do you mean? No features have been removed and everything should be working as intended. Please explain what you are experiencing.

Overall, I think you'll find the new format more compact with information being noticeably more accessible.

Gabe, there is a flaw in your logic. I don't know how many members gave you "input" but you can't claim it's a majority unless you ask the rest of the members to "vote". Personally I preferred the system where the FS, WTB and WTT were split into seperate fora, but I didn't write and tell you so. Obviously Cindy preferred that format too but I guess she didn't tell you either. If I'd known a change was planned I certainly would have expressed a preference. My bet is that very few members who preferred the split fora system actually expressed a preference. So, change if you will Gabe but I doubt you can claim it is because "Majority Rules".
Just my two pen'orth.
Kind regards
Dave

Rather than we "up and change" and generally bugger things up on a whim, "we" prefer to see it as changes which we have implemented in response to multiple requests, in order to make this forum suit as many people as possible. Actually, "we" spend a lot of time listening to "you" to offer you a free forum to follow your interest. "We" of course receive nothing for our efforts, and feel we are just paying back the time invested by those who went before us in creating online resources such as this. Sometimes, the tone of a post will make me say "sheesh" and shut down my computer and go and play with the cat.

Sheesh :(

Good night.

Good point Dave and perhaps I was a bit quick to use the term Majority. We did request the input, as we had already received numerous complaints about the new system. The main theme that came through was that many users were finding the size of the site a bit overwhelming and wanted a more streamlined layout with a better hierarchy. You are right that it might not have been the majority, but it was the input we received when we asked it. if stats are to be believed, the change has improved traffic, so I'm guessing that while it might not be perfect, its being well received.

I meant to add Gabe that I was finding the number of fora a bit overwhelming and so the rationalisation was a definite improvement IMO. It's just that, as I'm more frequently a buyer than a seller, it was easier for me to go to the Sales Forum and not have to filter out all of the WTB and WTT entries.
Now there's a thought. Is there any way that a filter could be applied so that it removed from view the WTB's etc?
Kind regards
Dave

Those interested in details might want to read this thread if they haven't done so already. I'm sure it's not the only one of its kind, but it is very relevant to the issues raised here by Cindy and Dave.

Hi Dave,

You can search for the FS ads and specify which forum section you want to look through..

We would need to ensure that all posts in the SCTF used standard abbreviations in the post header such as FS, WTB, WTT, etc.

Also, our ads are now appearing in Elite Deal Seeker.. http://www.elitedealseeker.com/index.cgi?searchword=seiko&category=watches&ageupperlimit=1

Cheers

Really like the combination of WTB, FS, and WTT, as well as commercial sellers and non-commercial sellers all under one umbrella.

So much easier to view them all and just makes sense to me as all are commerce related.

Great fine tuning improvement.
Thanks,
Daniel

evidently what happened was when the forum was split from japanese to non japanese, information on one of the locations did not fill up the complete page. I was used to seeing multiple pages before where i could page forward. when it went to 2 sites, there was not enough topics to fill the first page. (this confused me at first, but then figured out what happened.)

I do like the revised format. It just takes time to get use to it, but overall an improvement. (i really like the trade forum... you dont have to flip from fs, wtb, wtt... and so on.

I do need to first and most of all, thank all the persons responsible for the forum and the time consuming upkeep. I know it is not easy trying to accomodate all the members. I did not mean to upset an of the mods or an members :-[ . It just came as a surprise as it happened during the day and I did not experience the downtime for the conversion. I was on typing, went to get something to eat and came back to the surprise.....

Again... a big thank you to all the mods and persons responsible for the site..you are O:) 's

ps..i love the smileys!!!

Cindy
