So after reading the encouragement here and bookmarking Reto's guide on PMWF, I ordered the replacement capacitor kit from Borel along with a fresh gasket for the case back. I got the kit in just a couple of days (ordered on a Sunday, received the following Wednesday) and the installation went well until I attempted to secure the plate over the capacitor. The first screw went in, but the second went flying. If you ever seen these screws, you know how small they are, and since I wasn't working in a clean room there was no chance of finding it. Of course they're also not listed in the movement parts breakdown at Borel and I didn't have any movements from which I could borrow one, so I put things back together and posted a WTB on the Trading Forum. A couple of days later, two screws arrived courtesy of a kind forum member, but I didn't have a chance until this evening to try again. I opened the back, very carefully inserted one of the two replacements into the movement, thankfully without launching it into the great unknown, and snugged it down with a screwdriver. I closed the watch back up, shook it a little to get the rotor moving and it started right up.

The whole process was new to me, but one I won't be afraid to try again. Though I will be a bit more careful than the first time.
Special thanks go out to John W for helping me get it back together again. :singing:
Jim,

If you keep that 'battery' charged; the watch should not need you entering it again for a long, long time :)

Jules Borel supplies the replacement 30235MZ 'capacitor'. It's listed at $9.

Any of the good guys here can do it but if you've replaced a regular battery, then you could easily handle this one. There are only two screws involved :great:
