It is possible, and this is my opinion, that since it is a new model the distribution is just started and since these "trickle" down from Seiko, they tend to keep high prices due to the high demand for a novelty item.

As soon as the market becomes somewhat saturated the prices should cone down a bit. I have seen the same thing with some of the Casio models, Cokpit series, Rangeman, and similar. start up with small availability and high prices, then continue with more availability and better prices. Including grey market etc. which a the beginning might be limited in the volume of units available.

As soon as the demand diminish then the price will go down and it will start flooding ebay, etc.
