I wanted at least one in my little collection and found this some time ago. October 1969 6139-6010. It's been serviced and hands relumed ( might need redoing ) but dial kept all original and as far as I know original bracelet. Brown might not have been my first choice, but actually i quite like it now.

I know some of you have got some really early 6139 editions, let's have a look !!

I also fancy something from my birth year of 1964, any suggestions ? Andrew

Here's a few mine,
Notched Proof

Sports 5 Proof Speedtimer

I believe this 6139-6032 Proof is from early 70'

Another 6139-6000 Sports 5 Proof Speedtimer.

This 6139-6010's currently in the restoration line up. May of 69'. I also have the black dial version.

No '69 6139, but I do have the next best thing, its competitor in the automatic chronograph space race, the A386:

That Zenith is absolutely fantastic...I've been trying to navigate my way around the frankens with little/no luck. Great piece...it's just a matter of time before the prices of those hit the stratosphere.

snip

Recently restored by one of our own here...more details to come soon.
(apparently, I can't even quote a post with a picture in it)

I just picked up one yesterday that has this dial. What's the story on the "Automatic" only text? Just another variation?

Good looking watch. I've always wanted a Seiko chronograph ever since seeing them in high school, when they came out.

From L-R

2/69 - redial, incorrect sweep 928558
(3) 3/69 937399,930410 ,934830
9/69 991672
10/69 905453

First one I found was 6139-6010 930410 out of Australia

Pisses me off that the leading 6139 servicer years ago, not only took 7 months to service the watch after quoting 2-3 months, but also relumed the damn watch after being explicitly told not to.

There is one collector I met on a forum who had 2 February '69 6139s

For context

Zenith A385

Heuer 1163MH

Buren Super Slender (base movement for Heuer Cal. 11)
