I’ve just purchased a pretty nice vintage Seiko World Timer 6117-6400 and it is not running.

I’d like to get it sorted out so I might wear it. The balance appears good, but it won‘t run for more than a few seconds so I suspect it’s a main spring issue.

I’ve considered sending it to Tokyo or New Jersey for a full service but I’ve found good independent watchmakers can be as good or better than factory trained technicians.

If someone can recommend a gifted Seiko mechanic I would be grateful.

Thank you. That is exactly the type of information I was after, and why Tokyo is currently my first choice.
None of the Seiko service centers will have parts for a vintage watch, and more than likely your average watchmaker won’t know where to resource parts. Find a Seiko watchmaker.

You should reach out to @Vette Enthusiast . He did some great work for me earlier this year on two vintage Seikos (6105-8000 & 6106-7107). You can also check out his posts on some of the restorations he's done. Really amazing work. There are also several other highly skilled repair/restoration experts here on the forum.

If you are happy to send to U.K Richard Askham is amazing I found. Mind you it's a long way for a service/ fix .Take a look at his blog thewatchspotblog.com
