Such services are provided by my watchmaker who is a local Seiko authorized repair technician ....
No parts, no repair ...

Ok, an update from the 6138 Bullhead owner. I still don’t believe it:

“they received it today and quoted me $332 to repair it with a 1 year warranty. And 2-3 weeks turnaround.”

I’ll watch and report as this continues.

Humm, interesting, $332 is less then their price sheet indicates.

Is it a movement service, repair, or both? What parts are included?

Exactly, I guess we will find out. But if it needs any parts, from where are they coming?

I did a Pogue for a guy about 7 years ago.
He was quoted $900 ($NINE HUNDRED) for the overhaul by a jewellers shop that had a watchmaker working in it. They either thought he was stupid or didn't want the work.

I just checked seiko usa. Service quote on a 6139 is $290.

They do have disclaimers at the bottom stating parts are discontinued, and service may not be possible if there are damaged or rusted parts.

I guarantee they will botch the job. Too many war stories. And no parts outside screws and jewels and such available so it would be a rare overhaul that they could do and do right.

I fear you're right. The Seiko agents would be one of the last places I'd send a classic Seiko.
Agree completely.
