About half a year ago I started working on a Seiko "Desert Diver". Rob's "Desert Diver" gave me some inspiration but I wanted to go somewhat further.
Most of us know the "Desert Diver": A Seiko SKX 007 with SNX431 dial and hands.
Here is the version I finished today. It took such a long while due to delivery problems of some parts.
Standard SKX 007, the bezel insert was very handy for my 7549-7010 project.
Dial and hands of a Seiko SNX 431
MKII aluminium chapter ring.
MKII GMT steel bezel insert.
Beadblasted case including caseback except for the wave loge.
Drilled lugs for easier strap removal.
Bi-directional bezel
Red tipped second hand.
2 piece "desert tan" zulu with beadblasted buckle and rings
Here are the pics:
The watch looks very big due to the colours but also due to the somewhat small hands of the SNX 431. I was thinking of maybe installing a set of black MKII type 1 hands.
