Seiko Rubber wristbands

I was admiring Tiger's new aquisition ( nice one!) and regretting that I can't follow his lead. I have found that I can't wear the "new" Seiko rubber. My older (15yr) bands are OK but the new ones irritate my wrist with an itching rash. I noticed it when I bought a really nice SS band which had rubber comfort inserts on the inside only to find that I can't wear it so it's in the drawer with my other discard bits.
Has anyone else come across this? I guess the composition of the "rubber" has changed because I don't think I have.
