Just purchased this Seiko Railroad Quartz was wondering if anyone had any info on it lug width, case size, date of manufactuer?

Looks to be maybe a 1980, 1990, 2000 for year based on serial number starting with 0.

Can these crystal scratches be polished out or cheaper to replace the crystal?

Thanks,

John

The style, especiallly the use of the SQ logo make me think late 1970's to early 1980's. The 8223 is seen in several 1980's watches, so a 1980 production date would seem correct. The 4 jewel movement is rated at 15 seconds per month which should allow you to keep the trains on time! The movement does include a trimmer capacitor which could be used to tighten up accuracy if needed. Below is the technical manual for that movement. Congratulations - that's a nice looking Seiko Railroad watch.

Thanks so much John

Any idea on the lug width?

John
No idea - my guess would be 18 to 19mm, but who knows. Unless the scratches are really annoying I would simply enjoy a 30 year old classic as is.
