Seiko Hello

I'm looking at the watches and variants that some of our fellow WISsers are building like Tiger, Jake, Harold and many others and wonder when the penny will drop with Seiko.

Surely they must see some of the work done and how popular the old stuff still is and could they be making a buck even just reissuing parts. BIG SIGH - - -if only a dream.

seiko would be very smart to get these craftsman on board with them

I think it is fairly safe to say that the CEO's of Seiko have their heads firmly in the sand in regard to accommodating enthusiasts wishes and demands.
I'd imagine that all the worlds enthusiasts purchases added together aren't a fraction of their global sales and to them it's not worth the investment versus the expected return.
I have to agree with both Mike and skg, these days it's all about ROI. What they don't seem to get is that for the past few years there's been a (actually another) resurging interest in all things retro. It wouldn't take too much effort to jump on that bandwagon and benefit from that resurging interest.

They wouldn't even need to retool to re-issue old parts. They could just license that to third parties, holding them to certain production and QA/QC standards, and collect the royalties on the new "old" parts.

But even that's too much to hope for. If history is any teacher, it will probably still be many decades before that's given any serious consideration by the ivory tower folks.
I wonder if somewhere in the Seiko world there is the old machinery that made the 6105's, 6309's,6138's etc. That would be something to see. Mentally erect just thinking about it.
well they should do like the old car manufacturer's have done...allow these parts to be sold and everyone makes money and get their product out there
