Here is a quick guide as to how the crown is sealed on the 7546-604X series among many others.

Crown with no gasket.

Case tube with gasket installed.

Case tube with plastic gasket installed.

Case with crown installed.

Excuse dust, this is a case and crown assembly I'm just now dissasembling. Hope it helps.

Thanks a lot Guy.
I suggest there should be a "Casing and Gasketing" section, with posts like this to help restoring our timepieces.
Gaskets dimensions would help, as some of them are no more available.

Thanks for this valuable information.
And what an coincidence, because today I received my first 7546-6040.
I am astonished how nice this watch looks in reality.

Very nice! A 6060 caseback correct? All looks in excellent condition. Do you think you'll replace the crystal? Doesn't look too bad from that pic. They can be awkward to sort out tho..

I am not an expert for this watch but caseback looks fine for me.
Regarding crystal I had a first check in the internet but it seems to be difficult to find them AND to replace them. Mine isn't bad so I could also stay with the current one. Let's see. Or do you recommendation where to buy them. Are there generic sapphire available?

Correct caseback which is good. Two sold on the forum that were completely franken and not disclosed as such.
The crystal part number is what you need. The diameter is 30mm and 1.5mm thick but you need a decent bevel edge to clear the bezel.

Nice post! The crystal retaining/gasket assembly on this watch was another head-scratcher for me when I put a new crystal in my -6049. You're making me wish I'd taken some pics at the time to post here and share the oddity of it all...:)
