After servicing my 6309 diver I am getting fluctuating B.E. readings on the timegrapher (dial in different positions) from 0.1 to 4.5.
Anyone had this problem and any ideas how to correct it?

Thanks, R

Well, Beat error is really just a difference in degrees of arc.
So sounds like something is loose/worn, loose pallet jewels, fork pivots, balance jewels etc.

Are your dial up and dial down traces similar on the timegrapher?

If they differ I would look at the following:
  • Ensure the balance staff pivots do not differ in cleanliness or lubrication
  • Look closely at the hairspring to check it is not rubbing against something
  • Examine the balance staff pivots to ensure they are straight and have not bent.
  • Examine the balance jewels. One could be dirty.

I followed your instructions, the top balance jewel was still dirty.
I cleaned that up and checked everything else, I couldn't find any other issues.
The watch is currently back on the timegrapher reading an amplitude 220/250 and a B.E. 0.0/0.3 (various positions)
Thanks for your help guys :)
