I have a Seiko LM 5606-7190 that I need to service and replace the crystal. Cannot figure out how to get the case open. The crystal seems hard like glass. It has many scratches. I cannot get a grip on it with a crystal lift tool. How do I get the crystal off so that I can access the movement?

Thanks

I have never had much success with a crystal lift. First you need to remove the bezel if you haven't done so already. Then take a case opener knife and cut into the crystal slightly tight against the case edge and lever it slightly. If you do this at a few points around the edge it should come out. Even if you need to replace the same crystal any damage will be hidden by the bezel.
