Ray Mears and Rolex

I'm honestly not convinced that a fan wanting to be like Ray will be like Ray Mears will best achieve this by buying either watch. Do citizen still offer the model sans endorsement?

One thing about Rolex is that playing golf with it on is Zero Issue. Their calibers easily withstand even the fastest swingers on Tour and will do so for years with no ill effect. They are that rugged.

I'd rather subject my Datejust to golf (which I've done many times) than any of my many other brand autos and certainly would not with my beloved Seiko 1967 LM36000 for example.

For golf I just recently added a nice Seiko 7N43 in titanium. Love the light weight.

Those were great watches...like I always say. Citizen just discontinues great models all the time. I wasn't aware that Rolex's could handle golf swings..

That is the same watch as my brother used to wear, we were both avid cavers (until old age got the better of us) I used to wear a 6105 8110.
Both watches held up pretty well, diving old flooded mines wasn't a problem to either, but cave diving took its toll, sharp rocks, mud and grit
On one particular cave, rated as super severe, we were climbing down a very narrow shaft with the aid of a rope ladder and with the contents of a big stream pouring down over our heads. Alas it was all too much for my brothers Casio and it died, my 6105 survived and at the end of my caving career the crystal was almost opaque, and bezel scratched to hell.
I still have the 6105, the crystal was changed years back and it was recently serviced by John AKA "The Tiger UK" also a Yobokies replacement insert was fitted at the same time.
The G-shock was good, but it didn't beat the 6105.

Wow that's impressive! I thought my little G-Shock was the hardest b-stard on the planet.... in watch terms of course I couldn't believe it when I found my watch after over a year under my flower beds and it was still telling the time and only about 30 seconds out!

G-shock is a tough watch.

I don't personally know the guy but I find it hard to believe it is for the money.

And would he be the sort of person Rolex would pick for an endorsement? He doesn't seem like their kind of 'celeb' does he? They are more of the Roger Federer, Lewis Hamilton ilk.

And besides, even if he wears this for the camera, we all know when he really goes off radar he's got a Casio on don't we? :grin:

If you buy a watch thinking it will endow you with the talents of Ray Mears you are delusional.

G-Shocks are tough...but lets admit that they're pretty ugly watches in most cases. The classic models and metal MT-G models are pretty nice.

You guys are crazy if don't think it was for the money. Rolex dumps more money into advertising than almost any watch company out there.

Also auto watches aren't as delicate as some wis think they are.

It's always about the money... You wouldn't be a TV celeb if it wasn't about the money. I was asked to be on a TV show and done one sitting. That is the most boring profession anyone could wish to ever have. It's only about fame and money and that is it.

Rolex watches does not get affected by the swings of golfer.You can wear that watch where ever you want.Rolex watches are one of the most reliable and perfect watches from swiss watch makers.If you have a rolex, its worth to wear it.They make a style status of yours and make your wrist pretty cool.I think no one would like to sell rolex watch[/URL] of his because he can not wear it during playing.This is not true a rolex is rolex and its something every watch lover desires.
