I cleaned up the LCD contacts on a Seiko M159 because some of the digits did not light up on the LCD screen and now all the digits light up together when I put the battery in! At certain angles the seconds LCD can be just be seen moving.

What have I done now?

Are the contacts graphite coated?, cleaning them can short circuit the contacts.
The slightest short will cause issues - even a conductive film so thin it's hard to see..

Page 19 of the tech pdf says that when all display segments are displayed,or some are reversed - it's caused by a bad contact with the common electrode on the LCD panel.
Be sure to use anti-static measures with this CMOS based LSI chip!!.

Good call 7s26b cleaned graphite strip and now good.

I'm still working on the first digit of the hour to work which is strange because it was working when there was the short to common electrode!

More cleaning then!!
