I've been contemplating getting this watch and have a few questions

#1. Have there been any major problems with the spring drive. has the tech been "perfected" or are bugs being still worked out?

#2. if I have any problems with the watch would I have to send it back to Japan, or is there an American servicing facility now that Grand Seiko has a presence in the US?

Overall, how do you like your Spring drives?

I've had a few of them.

There are no bugs in the design.

Yes you will have to send the watch back to Japan for service or you could probably send it to co serve and they will mail it for a premium. The only problem is if you mail it insurance is a real problem.

I can't really speak to the longevity (although I've never read any negative comments on the topic), but I enjoy mine. I own the LE SD tuna that came out >1 year ago. I don't wear it often as it is part of the rotation, but when I do, I am glad I have it. It's a unique movement that I like having in my arsenal.

Oh, and as many have stated, you could daydream for long periods staring at that sweep second hand...so smooth!

Good luck!
