I usually stick to mechanical, but this Alba quartz caught my eye. It is running, but my limited quartz experience is keeping me from finding more info. The Alba movement number is y504. When I Google it I get Japanese and Russian results. Can anyone cross reference this with a Seiko movement number?

Thanks guys. I was unaware of a 2j 754x. Did Seiko use it in any of their own models? I'm now hunting through 7546 models, as I swear I've seen this case before.

It does look very similar to the 754x series.

I do not have any info on a Seiko equivalent model but I can tell you that it was first introduced in December 1979 which would tie it in with Seiko 7549 which was introduced in June 1978.

The Y504A is 27.0mm in diameter and 5.3mm thick while the 7549 is 27.4mm x 4.6mm.

Both are rated at 32K frequency and both have a battery life of 3 years.

The average difference per month of the Y504A is +-20 seconds while the 7549 is +-15 seconds.

While the movements do look similar they are clearly not directly equivalent. Hopefully someone else will be able to provide some additional details.

The Y513/4 have been used as a swap movement for 754X's and are also down jeweled to 2 jewels - so probably where Micah remembers the 2J from?
The difference in thickness is probably down to Seiko using measurements sans battery with the 754X's, whereas the Y513/4 height is not noted as measured without battery.
The Y504 shares the same battery, coil resistance and current consumption as the 754X's - so I'd hazard a guess that it's largely interchangeable with the Y513/4 and 754X series.

I got this NOS CB in with some spares not long back and it works perfect on the 7546/7548 movements, made in Singapore and notice how the trimmer has the + & - signs whereas most of the Seiko ones you see don't have the signs.
