Hell folks,

I have been watching this one for a while, it has been listed a few times, and it looks good to my uneducated eyes, but no one has jumped on it, so I figure there must be something wrong! :-D

Is it over-polished? The third picture shows some gouges in the back with smooth edges, which makes me think it was well-polished, but (to me) the edges of case still look pretty sharp.

Any advice?

All help will be greatly appreciated, thank you in advance! :)

Over-polished...

Well, looking at some other King Seikos, I'm getting sure it is way over-polished.

Compare the back in the third picture to this for example:

All the little bumps on the medallion are gone. :( Oh well, there is no free lunch!

Like anything else, though, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I think it's a beautiful piece, but I can't afford most KS or GS models right now. Another thing to consider is what you'd already mentioned about the marks on the back; would you rather have a less-polished back with more prominent marks or a more-polished back with minor marks. It's all in what you can live with. Also, how many people are going to see the back? ;)

Severely worn and overpolished case.. Look at the lines near the lugs for example, the chamfer is no longer even visible. It will be impossible to restore the case to its 'proper' look in this case.

For myself I wouldn't consider something of the sort at all - the value as a collectible, to me, is ruined - as a watch for daily wear it's passable though so long as the sale price reflects the condition.

One more thing: that's strange... you can find that this watch was sold on 6th Augustus for 382,55$, and the buyer gave positive feedback "very nice item, very fast, very good seller, thanks"...
And it is now relisted at a higher price  So what? :undecided:
I would stay away ;)

Cheers,
Mathieu
