Some of these are very nice.

I wonder how interchangeable the parts will be with SKX cases, so one could have the look of one of these and 200m water resistance. If the new ones truly don’t have a screw down crown, would have to sort that out, at least.

Smart move by Seiko making so many color ways. Should appeal very much to the modding community.

I especially like the off white version.

Any news on the Arnie reissue timing? I’m particularly excited about those.

Not really into the new '5' logo but maybe because we've been used to the old '5' being around for so long. Come to think of it, the old '5' shield design has been around for more than 5 decades no?

No, it's not a "replacement", it's a "continuation in a lower line".

My guess is that Seiko wants to kill off the 7S26 movement. The SKX was always "too good" and made the Prospex lineup seem too expensive.

They open up a new market and at the same time remove a hindrance of going upmarket with their divers.

I like this comment in the article "but they’re definitely not intended for professional use – after all, they’re water-resistant to 100m and have Hardlex crystals." Yeah you know, since they never used a hardlex in a Professional diver. LOL

Sorry about that! I know that colloquialisms are a pain in the arse in most languages 😁

While I agree that this is not a ‘proper’ replacement to the SKX, I used the term ‘replacement’ because of the obvious general SKX stylistic familial traits - which no other model in current line up features - and in lieu of anything better, given all the talk in other threads before this official release, and rumors of its eventual demise.

Clearly this won’t be a replacement for ‘us’ owners and fans of the original SKX, but it’s obvious, and really hard to ignore, that this collection was built up on the back of that iconic model (even though their official literature never mentions that straight up).

Cheers,

The SKX line has been discontinued, though plenty of stock remains. I need to grab an SKX007 before they disappear. Some vendors are out of stock already. I have noticed prices are on the rise for remaining SKX models.

We've heard this before...do you have something definitive from Seiko or an AD?
