I was perusing the Citizen Japan official site (www.citizen.jp) and was presented with new model releases to celebrate the company's 80th year anniversary.

Here are some of the notable new offerings for 2010. Please note these watches are Japan domestic market only:

Citizen Automatic Caliber 0910, 18K gold model #CTY57-1281 (Retail price: 800,000 JPY or USD $8,681 at today's exchange rates)

Next up, is The Citizen BY0039-00E with the newly updated H611 radio controlled module:

Retail price is 262,500 JPY or USD $2,847 at today's exchange rates

This is the same watch, but the model #BY0030-04E variant that also retails for 262,500 JPY:

The following are new release radio controlled 3 hand analogues from the Attesa collection. The following photos could give us an idea of how the new US spec Citizen R/C 3 hand analogues may look like (Hear, Dominic you teaser? :D ):

Attesa model #'s ATD53-3071, ATD53-3072 & ATD53-3073 with leather strap:

This one has a blue dial...

These are made in Titanium, have 200m or 20 bar water resist cases, Radio controlled (These only sync in Japan) and use the H110 2 hand R/C analogue module.

Retail prices are 73,500 JPY or USD $798 for the bracelet versions and 68,250 JPY or USD $740 for the strap version.

They all have relatively thin cases at 9.7mm thick and all 3 weigh well under 100g (86g for the bracelet versions and 49g for the strap version).

Is this what COA is planning to release in the United States later this year, eh Dominic? :))

Other interesting developments....

The wording "Eco-Drive" is being removed from new 2010 Citizen watch releases. Now the word "Citizen" is prominently displayed in the center of the dial.

And now the bombshell!!!! :)) :)) :))

The Citizen Skyhawk AT has been officially discontinued in the JDM (Along with the U600 module) as of 5/31/2010 as well as Citizen Attesa ana-digi watches using the Eco-Drive U600 radio controlled module (The old ATV53-2834 series).

The only surviving U600 timepiece in the JDM is the Citizen Promaster Sky "Blue Angels" model number #PMV65-2261 with a retail price of 147,000 JPY or USD $1,595:

RIP U600 (2007-2010) :'( :'(

Very intriguing stuff! Thanks for passing all this along ought to be a winner for Citi if they release some 3 hand classy Attesa variants that sync to WWVB....they've needed to do that (I know how exclusive they like to keep things) for a few years now. Will domi chime in here you think? nanh his lips are sealed!

Interesting developments indeed.

Two distinctive possibilities about these new "Attesa" inspired US spec R/C 3 hand analogues....

1) The H110 module has received "Perfex Multi 3000" to allow for radio sync outside of Japan

Or....

2) These upcoming R/C 3 hand analogues are brand new calibers specifically developed for export markets?

Inquiring minds want to know...

Could this well be the upcoming 4th generation Citizen Skyhawk AT?????

You are probably looking at the Skyhawk AT 4th gen successor, the Promaster Sky model #PMV65-2271 in full Ti + Duratect. Note the "Nighthawk" like case, slide rule bezel under the crystal and the updated U680 Radio controlled ana-digi module, with China (BPC call signal) atomic sync and 3.5 year power reserve (Up from 2.5 year in the outgoing U600 module). This one retails for around USD $800 from the Japanese 3 amigos.

This is the leather strap version, model #PMV65-2272:

Both of these Promaster Sky watches were released at the end of April 2010.

Certainly some game changing stuff going on in the quartz market in the US and maybe elsewhere. I wonder if all the players are ready to compete?

I wonder how much longer the 2100 chrono has left? Doesn't seem like there is anything in Japan ready to replace it.

The 2100 was introduced in 2004, so in six or so years, the E210 caliber may well be at the very end of its production life (Ditto for the current US Nighthawk whose B874 module is fairly old. The PVD version was discontinued at the end of '09).

Remember that the E210/E260 calibers are not being offered on any JDM offerings. The E260 was specifically developed for the Citizen Signature Collection Flyback Chronograph models.

Citizen is clearly moving in one direction: Eco-Drive/Radio Controlled watches. High end mechanicals and super quartz (HEQ) will be the realm of the "The Citizen" series.

Really hope they make it to the U.S. At the current projected discount (40%) price of $479, can you say, "Move over, Oceanus (Casio)?" A SS version will significantly drop the price. Let me be the first in line, right next to my wife (she wears a Citizen).

I'm patient but MiniDriver has provided a lot of drool-worthy materials today. Thanks. Can't wait.
