A while back SeikoPsycho2 (Tom) approached me about possibly collaborating on some jewel replacements for the metal bushings that wear out on Seiko 6138/6139 chronograph bridges for the intermediate min recording wheel and the min recording wheel. These wheels are what drive the min sub dial hand via the chronograph wheel finger. These bushing pivot ports oval out over time producing excessive side shake which can lead to chronograph stoppage.
Tom and I carefully measured the bushings and specd new jewel bushings for both wheels from a trusted Swiss jewel supplier here in the US. I have installed these jewels on a couple of parts movements and they work well. I will be offering these as a service upgrade or bushing failure fix as part of my service offerings on vintage Seiko 6 series chronographs going forward.
