Hi All- I received a 6309-7049 in all original shape from Nov.'77 and noticed the serial # started 7N---- I also checked the date calculator and it was made in November 1977. Was this the reason for the 'N'? Also is/was this done very often (letters in the serial #'s)? Thanks -Ronbo

Yep, 1234567890 for the first ten months of the year (Jan-Oct), N for November, D for December. In order for the system to work as Seiko intended, they had to come up with a way to account for 12 months with only 10 numbers. This worked. ---A
