Just got my first slide rule bezel watch - it's a 4R37-00B0 and I absolutely love the look. However, I had a confusing moment trying to do a kilometers to feet conversion.

I wanted to convert 5km to 1000s of ft, so I lined up the KM indicator on the outer bezel with the 50 on the inner bezel. The 1000s FT indicator then lined up with 16.4 which makes sense as 5km is, I believe, 16,404 ft. My confusion is in the significant units: why did the math work out correctly as opposed to requiring me to shift a decimal point? Since the starting value for km on the bezel was 10x what I intended I figured I would need to do an adjustment at the end.
