I REALLY dislike fakes and i'm not a fan of a lot of after market stuff and I think pointing fakes out to all is REALLY important for us all new and old to the hobby.

But if a fake is called it really does have to be a fake imo.

Clearly we won't get it right every time, and no one is perfect - the aim is 99.9% of the time to make the correct call, and we will caveat appropriately when we goof (which we did in this instance, once more pictures were provided in this forum here).

On balance, these posts serve the greater good, and we will keep making them. If this offends, well, feel free to ignore the post.

I will continue personally to do my best to introduce new collectors to the joy that is vintage watch collecting, in particular Seiko, as you noted above - this is important to me.

Hi Ewan - thanks for bringing this to my attention. You may want to use this picture in your auction listing. Not only would it avoid possible potential bidder confusion, but it would definitely bring a higher end bid. Stay well

@DCVW - I can't edit the photos in the eBay listing since there are bids on it already so it'll need to just stay. I would say why don't you remove my photo - which is my copyright, by the way - from your post? [I'm pretty sure you can't edit photos from Instagram posts so that is a rhetorical question...]

With high-res pictures, yes. An expert such as yourself knows how good some of the fakes are becoming today. The call was made on the information based on hand at the time.

But like above - the intention of these posts is to bring awareness of the plethora of fakes out there, not name and shame sellers, and the importance of research before buying. If anything, its been successful so far in bringing this awareness.

I'm not criticizing you for this, as you're in business ... but I reckon the real primary aim of your posts is basically to announce "there be sharks out there, don't buy a watch on eBay if you're not sure what you're doing, buy from us instead". I and others on here post extensively to help people identify fakes, and I do call out fake sellers by name as they deserve it.

I felt a bit slighted by being included in your post on Friday - as much because of the set up text is basically calling me out as a bad seller ...

criteria for #feikofriday inclusion include a seller that frequently sells watches and includes no mention of fake parts in their watches, or blatantly lies watch is all original. We strongly encourage people to do their own research, readily available on the internet, regarding key tells of fake vs. legit parts, by: 1) opening the internet, 2) searching the model number, and 3) reading. Our mission is not to painstakingly break down every fake tell, but to spread awareness that feikos are plentiful and to always do your research - there are many great resources out there to determine fake from real
