I've looked today at one of the local web stores just to check
on a DW5600-e current price when I saw another 5600,
one that I was after for a while.

A quick check - the actual store is 3 minute bicycle ride from my home.
This battle against buying another G was lost

fast forward to one hour later(the hour on the watch is still from the factory):

G-5600A 3DR, the dark Khaki. Great color, and a very nice module.

Thanks for looking,
Galpo

I like that color a lot. Dark, but not quite black.

Do they not market the atomic models where you live?

No. This Technology hasn't come here yet ;D
Worse than this - any 5600 is hard to find here, every time I ask they tell me no one
will buy those "squares" so they don't see the point in keeping those in inventory.

I've snatched this one because I assumed there is only one in the store. It was.

Sweeeeetttttt! Nice one Galpo! I'm currently in a G Shock phase. I was reading about them last night for 3 hours. I think i've owned 6 in my lifetime and am close to buying 2 more. I have my eye on the new Frogman and the new Carbon Fiber square model.

That's a great looking G, Galpo. O0

The color scheme on this one is very nice.
It really makes the yellow letters on the bezel pop.
That always does it for me, and it's one of the reasons I picked up this beast:

Is the module of the G-5600 any different from the atomic version?

Your G is on my "Someday I'll have it" list, Jan. It's a great model, and you're right, the color scheme is very nice.
My G-5600A module, as far as I know, is like the one with the atomic time, but no antenna / receiver.
When looking at a sharp angle at the LCD, I can see even the RCVD (!) that will never be on,
but I can't be sure, I've never had an atomic G.

Interesting....your's has a different date display than my atomic GWM5600. Yours has a dot while mine has a dash seperating the month and day. I thought the only difference would be the printing on the dial pertaining to multiband 5.

Yours looks like the GW 5000. Maybe it is the non-atomic version of that module and not the multiband 5 module?

GWM5600 = module 3063
GW5000 = module 3159
G5600 = module 3160

So I guess you are right - after the 3159 module was made,
the receiver was taken out and viola - a new module came to the world...

Congrats!
After the discontinued? GW-056E I like the 5600 and 5000 the most.
And I really like the colour scheme of your new aquisition.

Cheers,

Axel

Very good, sir. I set them up and you knock them out of the park.

:))

That's my method - someone else does all the hard work,
And I come at the last minute and take all the credit ;D

Seriously, it looks like Casio are doing what every watch company is doing -
Design cases and movements with as much compatibility as possible,
Making variety bigger

Great pics. Love the G's you guys have. Here's a brand new GW5600J-1 just delivered to my door. I'm very impressed. Atomic, solar, world time, big digits, auto back-light, water and shock resistant, resin and light-weight body all in one package for a low, low cost. As said it before, this might be my last and only quartz. Very happy with it.
