was just surfing on the Monsters and was looking at the different variants of the model.

The Night Monsters are JDM models. 8)

but on a different site:
http://www.seiyajapan.com/c=yqpB7Wjz61LXLDOjhgbBCKaB5/category/6_diver_s_watch/
they say that these night monsters are "Movement Malaysia, Cased in China".

I'm sure Seiko follow strict quality standards that regardless where they are made, they will be of the same quality as other models made in other places. but one would expect that if it is tagged as a JDM model, it is made in Japan right? or it just me? :-[

Hi,
Just my $0.02.
JDM (Japanese Domestic Market) only means a watch is aimed at the Japanese market and won't be distributed elsewhere.
Even "Made in Japan" does not mean an entire watch is made in Japan.
Since the Monster uses a 7S26 movement, and this movement is entirely robot assembled, and the assembly facilities are located in Malaysia, the movement of the Monster will necessarily have to come from Malaysia or wherever else Seiko has installed an assembly facility. Ditto for the Monster case being made in China, except the final assembly requires some hand labor, and to keep costs down this is also done in China.
I wouldn't worry too much about the quality, though, they are just as well made as if they were made entirely in Japan.
Cheers,

seiya's description is accurate. i just picked up a purple night monster (a couple of pics posted in a recent thread):

and right on the back of the case, it says exactly what his website says. while i'd prefer made in japan FOR japan, it's still a very nice watch!
