Is this the "original" 7548-700H Strap? if not, what is it? it has
no markings or numbers on it.

i have bought two 7548 on scwf. the first came with this strap,
the second i bought from aquaman and it's much nicer, i have
put the second one onto the first strap, which the seller claimed
was the original strap. personally, i can't tell, and i just want to
represent the watch fairly and accurately if i sell it, which i might.

thanks for any clues,

peterr

My thoughts tend to that this is certainly not an OEM GL831 strap.
That said it could be original to the watch if some 7548's came on something other than a GL831/XGL831.

As you say this strap lacks any markings. Some GL831s has "Z22" markings, obviously most say "GL831" on them. Also something looks a bit amiss with the shape of the rectangular vent flaps.

What does the clasp marking read? If original I believe it should be "SEIKO stainless steel Japan.T"

i wish my eyes were that good, i need a better magnifying
glass :( no markings. it's an old strap, for sure, but still
pliable and doesn't appear to be in danger of splitting or
cracking. it's super long, i wear it on the smallest setting
and i'm at 6-3/4" so i guess it's a dive strap made to go
over a wetsuit.

I believe it's installed inside out, so to speak. You are looking at the underside of the strap.
Flat vent is the top, wavy vent (lack of a better term) goes against your wrist.

i'll try turning mine around, i think you're right about it
being inside out, but both sides are quite smooth, and it
looks like i'll try the hot water trick, probably with less-than
boiling water, see if i can reshape it. what's weird though is
there's no texture on the wavy side, and no markings,
and i still can't tell if it's possibly original or not, it is the
longest strap i've ever seen, it would fit king kong....well,
ok, it looks like it would accommodate a 9-5/8" wrist
easily, i can't imagine a person with a wrist that large
being capable of submerging into water, unless s/he's
over 8' tall...

I doubt it's original. There should be some marking on it. Does it have the wave logo on the longer, buckle-less part? There should be texture, maybe it's a factory reject? My money is on knock-off

I agree 100% with you Rob. I own a number of these and bought a 7548-700F about 5 months ago that came on a flat vent similar to OP pics. Unmarked, looked the part but was absent the GL-831’s unmistakable markings/texture. It’s now on OEM z199.

well, thanks for the opinions, looks like i got taken, a bit.
i mean, it's just a strap, but originals are worth a lot and
i'm deducing this one has not much monetary value, but
it could have some real utility value to an actual diver....
i am going to re-sell the watch, which came from aquaman
and is in very nice original condition, this watch should be
with a real collector, the condition it's in...
