Is this G Shock restorable? Yes! new bezel & screws

I bought this watch around 1986 & stopped wearing it in 1989. I needed a watch with an alarm in the summer 2008 so I took this with me. During that time the band a plastic cover disintegrated. Are there replacement parts around?
Referrals or leads would be appreciated.
Here is the pic of the front.
The back cover has a screw down with the following info in the center Shock Resistant #773974

Thanks to all for your encouragement and help finding parts. I have attached an updated pic.
My original plans were to fix it up to give to me son (13yrs old) but he would prefer a traditional diver...ohwell.
I am going to post it in the Trading Post forum.
Anyway Thanks Again i could not have done it with out the knowledgeable forum members here willing to share.
Cheers,
Phil

Hi

Nice watch. Send me a PM, I know where you can get the bits in UK or HK but dont know if I can give out details on here. I also have some genuine but used parts as I have a few of those myself.

Yes black bezel and bands are plentiful for these. I don't know the part numbers, but they are the same as that for a screw-back DW-5600 C. Also, be careful with the screws. The replacement ones from Casio don't work in my experience. Should be a nice rare piece when done!

Cheers!

Mike,
I am glad to hear black bezel & bands are plentiful, Would you care to share where is the best place to start resourcing these parts?
I only have 1 tiny screw left...they must have come loose when it all disintegrated in 2008.
Thanks

Hi there,

You have a nice 5200, released in 1984.
As said - the bezel&strap are easy to find.
in the UK, Tictox.com has them:

http://www.tiktox.com/dw5600c-battery-p-1360.php

Make sure its the DW5600C bezel and strap, not E (later model)
(5600 and 5200 use the same bezel/strap).

You can also seach E*ay, run a search on "5600c bezel"

About the screws - i'm not sure where, but they are to be found (maybe Tictox too?).
Google is your best friend, and a little foot work will get you the screws.
make sure the screws are not broken inside the case.

Caseback gasket? again, I'm not sure where.
I got mine from a local watchmaker, a generic o-ring.
I measured the groove and ask him if he had it. he did.
Abyway, this is Casio part # 72045696

Those were actually the original screws. The replacements from Casio did not work. The threads were different. I might also add the the original screws for the 5200 are slotted heads and the screws for the 5600 C are phillips head screws. This may be your only issue.

Cheers!

Here's a couple of sources for parts.

http://www.casiosalesandservice.com/

http://www.g-peopleland.com/

http://www.tiktox.com/index.php?osCsid=5074f4d0cd53b5c9eaeda0c1c48dbf47

I lucked out when I did my vintage ones. Timing for me was perfect. When I was working on mine someone had the parts posted for sale on the trade forum.

Cheers!
Mike

Thanks Mike,
I ordered a bezel & strap combo no luck with a gasket (unless I send it in for a pressure test then it is included) or screws.
I think I will try to hunt around the bay or try google.
Cheers,
Phil

I too am searching for bezel screws for a DW-5200. I thought that I had a set that I bought years ago from Casio, but they are not correct. I've looked at some links in the thread above, but didn't find screws listed anywhere. I have the impression that DW-5600C screws would work, the difference being that they are a Phillips head instead of a straight slot, which I can live with, if I could find some. Does anyone have a current lead on bezel screws?
thank you!
