Hey guys, a little over 2 years ago my wife and I tragically lost our Son Joey. He was only 26 years old. It's been hard with him gone but with Gods help and our faith we carry on in his honor and memory.

The donor watch is a cheap little quartz but serves it purpose well in this case.

As y'all know I've been in a creative state of mind lately with my abalone shell mods and such so I put this together for his mom so she can remember him every day when she checks the time.

I'm going to make one for myself as well with a picture of him when he was older. He was my "Little Buddy" and I miss him dearly. He was 7 years old when this picture was taken.

Kenny I can't even begin to imagine how difficult that must be to deal with. Lovely project and I wish you the best with it.

Thanks guys for your kind words and thoughts. You never recover completely but time is a healer of sorts.

Unfortunately I'm gonna have to start over with a new picture and new glass. The original crystal for the watch was broken when I got it as a gift. In the photo above, the glass was just resting in the case with out the teflon ring in place. When I tried to press it in with the gasket in, it shattered and ruined the picture. The crystal must have been slightly too large. That watch was super cheap and I'm gonna get a better donor and start over.

Thanks for the personal share Kenny. Cannot imagine how you manage though something like that other than through a strong faith and the process of time. Glad you are finding a creative outlet to help with the process. Your creativity and love will always triumph. Stay strong bud.

Thanks for that Mike. As always, you know I value your friendship a whole lot.

You guys usually get copious amonts of rainfall yearly just like us on the Gulf Coast. That's crazy all that snow!

Actually, there are a lot of places in the U.S. that get more annual rainfall than us. Ours just stretches over a longer part of the year.

Our biggest snowfall in many years .... and in February of all times.

Kenny...

Not much more I can add that I didn’t express in person. My heart hurts for you and your wife... I’m just down the road and always willing to lend a shoulder or ear.

There is peace knowing...

your son is waiting for you.

You're right, I always thought Seattle was high on the list for rainfall. I just googled it and Mobile Alabama which is 30 minutes from where I live tops the list with an average 67 inches per year.

Not sure what to say Kenny other than I am very sorry for your loss. I had recently reconnected with a work colleague on Facebook only to learn that she too had lost her son last year. I believe he too was in his twenties. Not having children of my own, I can only imagine the sense of loss and the gap it leaves. Just keep filling it with warmth and love my friend.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss Kenny, my heart goes out to you and your wife. My little brother passed away a little over 5 years ago. My Dad still grieves at times, we all do, and that's okay. The watch is a great way to honor your son's memory.

Recently lost my 92 year old mother who lived a long life. We all expect to see our parents go, but I just couldn't imagine the pain losing a child. My belated condolences.

That's a wonderful and creative way to commemorate your son.

I have three children, ranging in ages from 21 - 16. As a parent - and a human - I have sat silent trying to capture the right words. Unfortunately, I cannot. I'm with you and your wife!

Thank you Jerry, I appreciate you buddy. It's the hardest thing in life to lose a loved one but your brother is safe in the arms of our Father as is my little buddy. We carry on the best we can as that is what they would want us to do.

You guys are wonderful and I value your friendship dearly.

Oh Kenny I am so sorry that you and your wife have had to endure such a loss. I have been sitting here the past few minutes with tears flowing down my cheeks thanking the lord for blessing my boys and keeping them safe but I feel such profound respect for your strength and resolve in a time that must be the worst pain a parent can feel. Thank you for your strength, thank you for allowing god to heal your hearts and not blaming him for taking your buddy. I truly pray that this watch brings renewed comfort and happiness that your son is in a good place for a reason, perhaps a reason you may or may not understand. This journey is one of daily renewal and I hope you feel new strength daily, with comfort in the fact that some things are out of our hands as we trust the lord. Forgive me my long windedness. We serve the same lord yet I'm sure the lord sees an endurance in you and your wife to trust him through all adversity. Blessings to you two.
