i bought this blue mini turtle used, cheaply, and i liked
the black one so much better that i decided to turn the
blue one orange. the first picture is the blue mini after
case carving made it a true cushion case, but before
bead-blasting.

i got a dagaz dial for it, duarte contributed those sword
hands, the bezel insert ( bezel, too) cannot be bought from
seiko, so i used a citizen ny0040 bezel insert which is also
36mm x 30mm. i sent to duarte mendonca, he bead blasted
it and installed the dial, hands, and crystal.

i'm not crazy about how the bezel insert sits, it's proud,
and there's nothing to do about it, but one of these years
seiko or harold or somebody will make a suitable replacement.
the chapter ring duarte came up with, and it works, maybe
one of these years there'll be a brushed aluminum chapter
ring, but not available at this time.

i don't know if this is the first orange mini, but, it can be done....

here are photos, blue first, then orange...

Cool piece. The bead blasting makes for a very subdued look. Any plans for strap colors or further tweaks?
