I am not sure if I am getting the straight scoop from an eBay seller in the UK. He's trying to say all Royal Mail has somehow been stopped in its tracks and he hopes they'll get freed up soon.

I want to believe him, but it also could just be a great way to buy time until it's too late to contact eBay for an item not received.

Can any fellow British members shed some light on this situation?

I would say start the process as soon as the expected delivery date per ebay has arrived. You could also get them involved now, make them aware of the sellers claim. I think they will step in and thwart any BS claims from the seller. Not a UK member obviously, but mail delay or not, getting them involved asap will only keep you safe.

Its ture. I've been waiting to finalize an order form cousins for the last month and it only because available today. There was a russian cyber attack on the royal mail system and they stopped all international shippen. They've been bringing it back incrementally; the started sending envelopes and now look like packages too. ... 35gbp for shipping when i could pay 8gbp... no thanks.

Mail services throughout the world seam to all have developed a - in my opinion a "dishonest" attitude towards its customers, I have noticed different tracking information from dispatching countries compared with receiving countries, most postal services nolonger act or acknowledge complaints
Or make it very difficult to complain
It's easy to just blame covid.

Royal mail international is cactus, Jon. Something about a cyber attack a few weeks ago I think. Cousins has cancelled the Royal Mail international option, which leaves £40 courier as the next cheapest option to Australia. I guess I won't be making any cousins orders for the time being.

Or have your Cousins order posted to a UK member who could ship it on ?

I am in the UK and have been trying to ship eBay order to buyers in the US and Canada. I tried using the eBay labelling service but this was stopped due to the hacking of the international part of Royal Mail.
Royal Mail are slowly recovering their service but eBay are still not allowing me to print international labels. Of course other shippers are available but more expensive so if the goods are relatively cheap this is not an option.

Thank you John, if there were something I needed urgently I'd reach out to one of our outstanding UK members for help. Fortunately it's nothing urgent, just the usual bits and pieces I drop in my basket until I'm ready to make an order. Hopefully things return to normal before too long.

I ordered from Cousins two weeks ago (shipped to US) and when I placed that order, my only option was UPS Express 2-3 day, which was nearly $40. Tonight, I placed another order and Royal Mail International Tracked was available again. Maybe this issue has been sorted out.

I know that the Royal Mail services are slowly getting back to normal, but if you are trying to ship internationally in eBay then use the Global Shipping Program. As a UK seller all you have to worry about is the postage to the eBay depot in UK, GSP does the rest. it might be more expnsive for the buyer, but it will probably be quicker.
