I picked up a 7006-8007 from '75 awhile back - GREAT condition, near-perfect movement, clean. Runs beautifully. BUT... the crystal is cracked all the way around the bottom. I'm having issues finding a crystal for it - anyone have a clue?

Greetings,

I just read on a post on the forum that you got a replacement crystal for your Seiko 7006-8007.

I have a 7006-8007 in need of a replacement crystal.

I can't find it in the Jules Borel website, even with the reference (CRY-2114S) provided!

How did you find it in the site (can't find it in the catalogue PDF)?

BTW, to fit it, did you use a crystal press?

All the best and thanks on advance,
PR

You will need an account at JulesBorel.

Once you have that, log in, then do this:

1. select 'Watch Case Parts"
2. Enter '7006' in the case# text box.
3. From the next page scroll down to find the 7006-8007 and click the link for that case number
4. Enjoy gazing at the parts POSSIBLY available for that watch..

I say possibly because they dont always have what you see there, but you will have to order it and they will let you know, or you can call them and sometimes they can verify the availability over the phone. I have about an 85% success rate with items that they show as available. You do also need to specify if you will accept a replacement part if available on the order form so they can send you a generic if that is all they have.

Hope that helps..

Boy that was fast!!

Thank you Technoman, just followed your instructions.

Accordingly to search, the item is available.

Time to wait for the crystal to arrive and fit it. Will make that 7006 shine like new.

Will post pictures of the final outcome when I finally get it fitted.

Once again, thanks for your time.

Best Regards from (now rainy) Portugal

I'm glad you were able to get the info you needed - I never did find one for mine for sale; I just happened to get one that worked in a batch of parts from a watchsmith - total luck. Please post pics when you can - they're great watches, very classy.

Hi everyone!

Meanwhile, some time has passed and I was busy at work so I didn't have the time to get the crystal already.

The thing is, Jules Borel is saying that they only sell to resellers or watchmakers, so therefore I don't have access to their replacement crystal for my Seiko :(

How did you guys manage to get yours from them? Any special friend in the business?

Cheers to everyone and thanks for the help,
PR ( from rainy (bleh) Portugal at this time)

That's odd, I've had a borel account for years and have never had that question asked. Try contacting Swedefreak. It's quite possible that he might have the OEM crystal. if he doesn't he'll definitely be able t source the borel one and install it for you.

Thanks for the tip Isthmus!!

I did that just yesterday, and swedefreak shipped it the same day!

Once I get it assembled I'll finally post pictures of this classic machine.

A happy new year to everyone at the forum :great:

Finally managed to get a NEW crystal provided by swedefreak, which had the ring already attached. Snapped immediately :)

I bought an appropriate oyster for this one, but still haven't managed to adapt it to the case curvature to the end links.

For the time being, it's borrowing my Russian 24h Raketa's strap.

What do you think? Looks gorgeous to me, after I did a little work on the case.

Thanks to all for your help,
Cheers
